Not many have the privilege to earn the title United States Marine and even fewer have the honor to be members of the FDNY. Both of these organizations are considered the best at what they do. Both are steeped in traditions, based on honor and courage and selfless commitment. Both have required tremendous sacrifice from is members. On September 11th, 2001 The New York City Fire Department lost 343 of its bravest. Of those, 17 were also Marines. Every member lost that day is precious to us and will never be forgotten. This monument will serve to honor the names of the fallen 17 brothers who also carried the eagle, globe, and anchor and all it stands for with them on that horrific day.

Below is an artist’s rendition of the monument. The location has been chosen and approved; the plans are drawn up.  The men below gave us more than we can ever repay; the honor and pride of their service and sacrifice is legendary. Now its our turn to give back. Please help us honor them in a fitting manner.
